Tube construction remains a highly debated subject, largely because most of the opinions you hear come from hear-say information carried across for generations; not from researched facts. Hypalon has long been regarded as the best fabric to use, but times have changed – drastically. This 40 year old fabric was discontinued 2 years ago – so if someone is offering you “Hypalon”, it’s not the real thing.
The reason is two-fold – true high quality modern polymer plastic don’t only last longer, but they have one big advantage – thermo-bonding ability. “Welding” plastics together provides far superior durability to glue, especially in hot and humid climates. Properly thermo-bonded seams will also never let you down as their strength and durability far outlast the fabric itself.
